Your Experience Before Working with Jen

Our website is JenniferKem.com focused on personal and professional development. We are committed to providing valuable content and resources for personal growth and success. Our content is also related to a drug like amoxicillin and we are also helping to sell this drug on this website.

Summarize three points of frustration you faced before you hired Jen to help you with your branding, marketing, strategy and/or implementation.

So, the first point of frustration was lack of clarity. The second point of frustration was uncertainty, which was following the lack of clarity and the third was lack of strategy. And working with you, Jen, the reason why working with you specifically addresses those problems was because you are extremely clear and you’re really good at reading people, you are very good at understanding people, what they stand for, what their brand is, what is their ‘muchness.’ In Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter says ‘You’ve lost some of your muchness,’ you’ve lost some of your spark, right? You help people find their spark or remind them of what their spark is and then essentially turn that into something that is of service or to GIVE to other people. And so, because you’re clear and a lot of time, our fear, our lack of not knowing really what we are, how to do it, what’s the strategy? You know, you adding that clarity about people and just understanding human beings really helped me with my lack of clarity and made me really more clear.

Now when we talk about certainty, when I was clear about who I was and what I had to offer, I became more certain and more confident about, ‘okay, this is the path I’m meant to be taking.’

And thirdly, about strategy, you are a strategy master. So, you’re not only excellent at helping people with ideas, and who they are and what they stand for, really, what does the market want, but you are also very good at the implementation aspect, the strategy aspect, you know, how are we going to make this real? Now what are we going to do to make this happen?

I hired Jen for multiple VIP day experiences, to co-create my brand identity and online platform, and I run all my product ideas past her.

What tactics did you try before you decided to work with Jen? What were the results?

I spent a sh*t ton of money, unnecessarily working with people who had no concept of my brand—I didn’t even have a concept of my brand. They were just executioners. The people that I hired were just people who executed what I told them to do. So, basically I had lack of clarity and lack of certainty, and lack strategy, I was just pulling everything out from my a**, and just getting someone to execute it for me. And not someone who was really clear on the strategy aspect, but well, does this make sense? Given who you are as a person. So, the tactics that I used, were hiring everybody to kind of help me figure out, okay, What do we need to do? What do we need to do? And it was always about the doing and much less about what are we doing? Is it aligned with who you are? And the results were a lot of money wasted. I don’t want to say I wasted a lot of money because I know eventually all of it has led me to you, but I was literally spinning in circles and not seeing a lot of results.

During

Your Experience Using Jen’s Services

What was the big a-ha moment when you decided you needed to try Jen’s services?

The big AHA! moment that happened while deciding I needed Jen’s services literally happened in San Diego while I was talking to Jen and she could figure me out in a way that other people couldn’t —Even people I’ve known for years. That AHA! moment was like ‘Oh my God! She gets me! She really, really gets me. She gets what I’m about, she gets the good, the bad, the ugly, she just gets me as a human being. She sees me, she hears me, she gets me, I need to work with her.’ I was hungry for results so I was excited to find someone that I energetically jived with.

What are the top three features you love about working with Jen?

Number one, I absolutely love how certain Jen is. I absolutely love that whenever she’s on the phone with somebody, whenever she’s on the phone with me, she’s all about me and she LITERALLY answers every question. She has an opinion about things, she’s not like ‘mhm, mhm, mhm’ just trying to get sh*t done. She pays attention and has a customized approach for everyone she works with. You know with whatever advice she’s giving me, she’s not giving to everyone else. So, I love the customization. I love how much she DEEPLY listens.

The second feature is that she’s always up-to-date with what’s hot and what’s not. At the same time, even though she’s up-to-date with what’s cool, hot, what’s trendy, she doesn’t just want your client to do the next big thing just because everyone was doing it. She knew that I was the next big thing. She saw me as a valuable asset, so, it’s not like, ‘If you do this, you’re going to be a big deal.’ It was always like, ‘You ARE a big deal, Vas. You have to own it and if you do these things and have confidence, you’ll see results.’ She really paid attention to me as a person and as a brand and saw me for who I am and then everything after that fell into place.

Third feature: Definitely clarity, definitely confidence, definitely that assurance that I’m on the right track. Just the advice I have gotten from her, like ‘you are valuable. What’s the strategy?’ Now I think about strategy, about everything. Like, okay, this is a great idea, so what’s the strategy behind it? What’s the intention? Before, I never really had a strategy or an intention. I was just trying to pull everything out of my a** just to get sh*t done, but now I really think in terms of strategy, the big picture and also the present moment at hand.

What specific problems has working with Jen addressed that others in your business size might be able to relate to?

If you are the type of business owner that’s stuck, Jen gets you unstuck fast. She cuts to the chase, tells you the why and the how – and that’s where I was… people know I’m no stranger to radical action – action wasn’t my problem. Getting the cash results and the clarity of what I wanted to be known for that was my biggest issue. She helped me show how different and valuable my style of coaching and programs were.

Did you experience any direct “big win” business results for your company because of working with Jen? (i.e. More customers each month, creative ideas, ability to justify your monthly spend)

There are many, but I’ll point out one particular one, with my program Source of Your Success. Jen encouraged me to start living in my archetype, which was Maverick, to really start being the person, the brand, that I am. I’ve attracted more people who want that kind of honesty, who enjoy all the different sides to myself, you just encouraged me to be more honest to who I was and I guess the big win was people signing up for my program. When I launched something, people want it because they believe me, they trust me, they know me, they like me and so, I think the direct big win was obviously money and more confidence when I’m writing and more confidence in myself and trust of my customers.

Why They Would Recommend Working with Jen

What is the single biggest reason you would recommend/why you love working with Jen?

She really gets people. She just gets people. She’s certain to the nth degree and in this day and age no one is certain about anything. Nobody really wants to put their ass on the line, but Jen’s willing to put her ass on the line because she trusts herself, she trusts herself so much, that it inevitably trickles down with her customers and what they’re doing.

Built an evergreen program that sold for $20K+ (and growing!) at first sales event, hired his marketing implementation team, created multiple revenue streams overnight.

Before

Your Experience Before Working with Jen
Summarize three points of frustration you faced before you hired Jen to help you with your branding, marketing, strategy and/or implementation.

  • I wanted to launch my online speaker training program but had no idea how to go about structuring it.
  • I needed to migrate my mailing list to a CRM  platform, but didn’t  feel ready for Infusionsoft and  didn’t know  which platform to use.
  • I needed to assemble help to  launch my program under a  tight deadline but  didn’t know how to go about  choosing the right strategy and team to implement it

I hired Jen for a VIP day experience to work through these 3 areas, as well as some follow-up consulting to help refine my questions and for accountability.

What tactics did you try before you decided to work with Jen? What were the results?

Before working with Jen, I had paid for a couple of online training courses and webinars to help guide me for my launch. I had created a structure for the program that I wasn’t happy with. It was too long of a course and I wasn’t confident that it would be successful. I was also working with a mailing platform that I knew was inadequate, so I spent a lot of time researching Infusionsoft. The more I researched, the more daunting it seemed and I wasn’t sure I was ready for it. But I was having trouble ascertaining exactly what I was ready for. Lastly, regarding getting help, I looked at a few virtual assistants, but couldn’t find one that left me confident that they could handle all that I needed in the short period of time I was working with. The result of all of that was overwhelming and stress. I knew what I needed to do, but didn’t know how to execute it.

During

Your Experience Using Jen’s Services

What was the big a-ha moment when you decided you needed to try Jen’s services?

My big a-ha moment was when I attended a Global Leadership Program (a mastermind group led by Motivating the Masses) weekend that was all about creating programs to sell and realized that, while I was much clearer on my content, I had no idea how to deliver and market it. I realized that Jen’s expertise in marketing would help me shape the program itself to make sure I was delivering something that would be an easy choice for customers.

What are the top three features you love about working with Jen?

  • The way she gives expert advice, but also listens carefully and adjusts that advice as she learns more about my project and goals.
  • The warm, genuine, and amiable energy that she brings to the business. Because it makes working with her, not only effective, but fun and engaging.
  • Her story and extensive history in marketing and her willingness to share that openly. Because it gives her a broad perspective and leads to guidance that is deeper and more personal.

Did you experience any direct “big win” business results for your company because of working with Jen? (i.e. More customers each month, creative ideas, ability to justify your monthly spend)

My 3 biggest wins from working with Jen are

1) Creating my Stage Might virtual speaker training program with pricing and structure that has been an easy buy for customers. At one conference, I sold over 45 programs ($20k).
2) Finding a great project manager who was capable of handling my insane schedule/deadlines, marketing needs, social media needs, and brought expertise in program launches.
3) Partnering with Motivating the Masses on the World Class Speakers Alliance launch to launch my Stage Might speaker training program online and greatly increase the exposure and revenue for the program.

Summary

Implemented corporate strategy across business lines, tripled online revenue, expanded global brand recognition.

Before

Your Experience Before Working with Jen

Summarize three points of frustration you faced before you hired Jen to help you with your branding, marketing, strategy and/or implementation.

I tell this to people all the time, and I still don’t think they believe me – but I was bootlegging my marketing and branding for 10+ years before I met Jen… and I was doing an OK job, but I knew I was leaving literally millions on the table because I had no real marketing system or structure or strategy. That would be my first frustration.

Second, I spent over $600K on various marketing initiatives, some of which definitely paid some Return on Investment, but again, nothing that had some strategy end-to-end.

Third, I didn’t want to be in charge of my marketing, I needed to be in the highest revenue-producing activity only I could do on my team, and that was to be the CEO and Speaking on the international circuit. So I was looking for someone to lead Branding and Marketing for a long time.

What tactics did you try before you decided to work with Jen? What were the results?

I spent over $100K on building an online marketing funnel that never took off like we had planned. We actually ended up re-building it and with Jen’s leadership, it’s now producing more value for our customers and our company.

Our brand look and feel was not consistent at our events and our online presence.

We were offering a lot of great products and services, but we would have to reinvent the wheel each time we offered them at different events… Which caused inefficiency and a very large product portfolio that was hard to manage and keep up with. When Jen came on, we streamlined our programs by segmenting them – and deliberately chose to only offer some of the programs, not all of them anymore.

During

Your Experience Using Jen’s Services

What was the big a-ha moment when you decided you needed to try Jen’s services?

Jen actually came to use as a student in the Global Leadership Program – we weren’t looking to hire her and she wasn’t looking to be hired! Haha.

But after being in our community for a few months and giving us really good advice and consulting on how we could improve our marketing and sales results, especially online and through streamlining our products, I knew I needed her to join the team.

What are the top three features you love about working with Jen?

Her creativity. Jen and I are a lot alike, we love coming up with new ideas and she’s one of the people in the world I really enjoy brainstorming with, because what comes out of it is not just how to improve something, it comes with the plan for how as well.

Her commitment. Jen is the go-to person on my team for everything strategic in terms of how Motivating the Masses is positioned in the market, how we want our customers to feel when they experience our fingerprint, and how we will execute on the great ideas we come up with. She is as committed to the results as I am, and always puts her own CEO hat on when she’s working with me – which is great because it tells me she’s thinking how I would be thinking and that feels good to co-create with her.

Her humor. Jen is a riot and when you’re knee deep in strategy or solving business challenges you want someone on your team who can be both serious and funny at the same time.

What specific problems has working with Jen addressed that others in your business size might be able to relate to?

Clarity on what to work on first, second, third… I may be a “larger” small business, but I’m still running a small business and focusing on what will give the greatest return is so important so that you can reduce time, money and stress. It also helps that I have a marketing leader who can direct the team without me having to be there all the time.

Did you experience any direct “big win” business results for your company because of working with Jen? (i.e. More customers each month, creative ideas, ability to justify your monthly spend)

There are many but the most powerful ones:

  • TRIPLED online revenue in 2 years
  • Extreme clarity of product funnel and created $900K (and growing) in revenue in less than one year just by focusing on being great at one product.
  • Modernized the Lisa Nichols and Motivating the Masses branding in the marketplace, leading to more national coverage and partnerships (e.g. Steve Harvey, Today Show)

Why They Would Recommend Working with Jen

What is the single biggest reason you would recommend/why you love working with Jen?

I am smart enough to know when I need to be coached and I’m wise enough and kind enough to myself to go find the people who know more than I know in a specific area. Someone ten steps ahead of me. Well, Jen Kem is not quite ten steps ahead of me in branding and marketing, she is about 29.5 steps ahead of me in branding and marketing. She is a brand and marketing strategist and she understands the secrets to using online strategies and platforms to literally create multiple revenue streams. She understands how to make that path of revenue, what I like to call ‘back-of-the-head money.’ She also understands how to really look at how to leverage your name across multiple platforms, simultaneously: How to build powerful joint partners, build campaigns and strategies that will transform the trajectory of your business.

She keeps us grounded and literally sits at the helm of Motivating the Masses ship and she says ‘Let’s try the direction in this way’ and because we are smart, we say ‘okay”! She’s one of the most powerful teachers I have ever met and I have the pleasure of calling her a Motivating the Masses team member, but most of all I have the pleasure of calling her my friend.

Summary

Developed new brand plan, developed budget and resources required for implementation, created product funnel.

Before

Your Experience Before Working with Jen

Summarize three points of frustration you faced before you hired Jen to help you with your branding, marketing, strategy and/or implementation.

I feel like I really just had two main problems: One was a lack of clarity. Like, what could I provide? And two was a lack of certainty. Did it have value? And I think being inside of my own world or inside of my head—scary place to be—um, Jen was able to kind of like get me outside of it or, like, just trust her ‘cause from where she stood she could see certain things that I could not see. So, working with Jen helped me have some confidence that I am NOT unclear, that I do provide something and it DOES have value, so I think that was probably the most important thing that I got out of working with Jen.

What tactics did you try before you decided to work with Jen? What were the results?

I did online courses or I would just ask people, like, ‘What do you do for marketing?’ or ‘How did you create your own brand?’ and just a lot of trial and error. I would try things and see what stuck and see if people responded to them. If so, great, and I would keep doing more of that and if not, I would just stop. So, just a lot of trial and error and not being an expert or someone who studies business and marketing, it was a lot more error, which resulted in a lot less trial ‘cause you fail and it takes longer to get going again ‘cause you feel beat down. So, having Jen’s certainty behind the advice she gave was really fantastic.

During

Your Experience Using Jen’s Services

What was the big a-ha moment when you decided you needed to try Jen’s services?

And the big AHA! moment that let me know I needed to try Jen’s services was actually through joining the Global Leadership Program that Lisa Nichols’ does and working with Jen and getting to hear her expertise through that program, everything she said I’m like, ‘Ooh, I need some of that,’ ‘Oh, I haven’t tried that,’ ‘Oh my gosh, she totally gets me!’ And I think just realizing that you can be strong and who you are and that can be part of your brand… Just watching who she was in the world and how she operated and the results that she was getting, made me realize that I wanted some of that secret sauce that she could provide.

So, every time I saw her, I got more and more convinced that she was the one to help me unlock the craziness that was in my brain.

What are the top three features you love about working with Jen?

And the top three features I loved about working with Jen… Definitely her honesty. She’s not going to hold back, sugarcoat things, she’s not going to kick you in the butt in a mean way, but she’s going to tell you what she sees, how you may be getting in your own way, and I think that honesty is invaluable.

Just the sheer amount of expertise and things that she knows about was number two. She studied with some of the best people in marketing. She’s had experience helping people do successful marketing and so to be able to study with someone or work with someone who has studied all of these things that I am hoping to achieve and actually having experience in doing them and not just studying them, but studying and APPLYING them to her own business, to other people’s businesses— THAT was awesome to me.

And the third was just she made it fun. It was a very back-and-forth process: ‘What do you think about this?’ ‘I see this as a possibility,’ and so that kind of collaborative feeling that left me feeling like my voice was part of it. It wasn’t just her telling me what to do was really important.

Your Results With Working with Jen

What specific problems has working with Jen addressed that others in your business size might be able to relate to?

I think just having a plan. I have flip charts all over my office that are part of the output working with Jen , so that I could review them every day and see my making progress on this plan and once I got done working with Jen, I realized that what we had set out as an eighteen month plan, may or may not work for me, but without that, I wouldn’t have taken the first step that I had taken in the last couple of weeks have been in that direction, maybe not at the speed at which we initially talked about, but I am moving forward. And I had been sitting still, stationery, for a long time before I worked with Jen and so the plan right there is still up there because it is an inspiration, not because I have to stick exactly to it, but because it helps me know that I do have valuable information to provide and that there IS a long-term goal and I don’t have to move ninety feet in that direction every day, and an inch is still moving forward and it makes me kind of check in and say. ‘Am I doing what I want to be doing—what I committed to do—and what feels right at this moment.’ So I have kind of a measuring stick back there to help me with that.

Did you experience any direct “big win” business results for your company because of working with Jen? (i.e. more customers each month, creative ideas, ability to justify your monthly spend)

So, the monthly spend, I was having a hard time justifying the team member that I had hired at initially in sales capacity and as this became part of my plan, I realized that I needed to stop selling now and get creation of content and some other things done before we go back to selling and I was nervous to have that conversation and see if I could justify that spend, not just on her, but on her project managing new features on the website, a landing page to collect customer and client leads. Like all of the things that were part of this plan, could I have that team member project manage those? And I feel like working with Jen and having clarity about what I needed, allowed me to open up that conversation with my team member. Our conversations lead to stronger connections and her ability to say yes to things and no to things that she was willing to do or were in her area of expertise. So, that team member was perfectly willing to work other parts of her genius that weren’t sales to help this get going so that in the long run she would have more to sell on the other side.

I don’t know if I could have had those conversations or KNOWN what to ask or to think about if I hadn’t worked with Jen and got this plan that I could lay out for the both of us to look at, so that was really cool.

Why They Would Recommend Working with Jen

What is the single biggest reason you would recommend/why you love working with Jen?

The biggest reason I would recommend and why I love working with Jen is she’s a real person and I feel like she really cares about my success. It’s not just, ‘Okay, you had a day with me, you’re on your own, here’s the plan and bye.’ There’s been a lot of follow up emails, a text message when I’m having a meltdown and because of what I said about not, like this plan originally we hashed out as an eighteen month plan, but once I got home and looked at the other stuff I’m working at, it feels like a longer-term plan or maybe I won’t do parts of it at all, but she’s been there to help me adjust and see how I can take what we can worked and move forward in a way that does work for me—not, it’s not that she had to be right or this was THE plan—It was the starting point of a journey and feels like someone will be with me on that journey as it unfolds and it’s a resource I can tap back into and want to tap back into because it’s working and she made the journey fun, so two really components for me.

So, overall, my experience with working with Jen Kem was phenomenal. She gave me confidence to continue on a path that I had been stuck on for quite some time and to let it unfold with confidence, that I have a plan that I can always fall back to, but if it changes, if the plan changes, that’s okay because she’s still in my corner at a resource I can tap back into when and if those changes happen.

So I highly recommend Jen. She is the queen of what she does. A superhero marketer and brander and any person would be lucky to have Jen as part of his or her team.

Before

Your Experience Before Working with Jen

Summarize three points of frustration you faced before you hired Jen to help you with your branding, marketing, strategy and/or implementation.

Before working with Jen Kem, I was a successful speaker, trainer, and author working with small companies and individual government agency offices show up in the world more professionally and communicate more clearly. Then Federal Government shutdowns and downsizing took place and the small contractor companies and government offices with which I worked ended their external training contracts, taking more of their business internally to their own departments. My business plummeted quickly and I re-branded to focus on one aspect of the communications work I was doing…working with individual entrepreneurs and professionals to get their ideas out of their heads and communicated to others for successful implementation.

I wrote a book titled “Hey, That’s MY Idea!” incorporating the lessons learned & taught about how to organize your thoughts and communicate those thoughts (ideas) to others. I developed workshops, video & audio programs, and a retreat to help people get their ideas out of their heads and into action. Yet I encountered three main points of frustration in my re-branding efforts:
(1) I communicate corporately and my new audience responds best to more-feeling, personal communication. They were not responding to my communication style.
(2) Social media baffles me and I am challenged to keep up with rapid changes in social media strategy.
(3) I can create content prolifically and easily, including workshops, retreats, and other forms of programming. Yet to get people to buy or attend takes a relationship-building process for which I am impatient. Jen focuses on these areas for me to help my messaging reach my intended audience and to create social strategies that lead to sales.

What tactics did you try before you decided to work with Jen? What were the results?

I spent thousands of dollars on all kinds of coaching, seminars, books, and tools to learn about and implement online, offline, and any other kind of marketing “next best thing” I learned about and could understand. Nothing seemed to generate more than short-term financial returns. I was terribly frustrated, with diminishing savings and growing credit card debt, knowing that I could help a lot of people realize their dreams and turn their ideas into reality with my experience, guidance, and resources.

During

Your Experience Using Jen’s Services

What was the big a-ha moment when you decided you needed to try Jen’s services?

I met Jen in an airport van on our way to the hotel for a year-long coaching program in which we were both enrolled. She spoke about branding and avatars and archetypes, and how knowing the differences between my own and that of my potential clients can help me be more effective with my messaging and brand experience. I asked Jen to determine my Master Brand profile and help me with my marketing strategy, as a result.

What are the top three features you love about working with Jen?

I noted above that I am impatient with the processes necessary to build a social media platform, get people to know, like, and trust me online, and move potential clients through systems to eventually want to buy my services and products. Jen is extremely patient with me, explaining the strategies she develops for me and, in layman’s terms, the step-by-step procedures that must take place to make my marketing campaigns effective. Jen understands how the online world operates and she helps me merge the in-person, offline networking and speaking I love to do with the online funnels I’ve had to create to bring both worlds together. Jen is also personally invested in my success. When a strategy misses its mark, Jen is there with me to determine the course corrections needed to bring the results I expect. She has gone above-and-beyond my expectations in her efforts to help me build a successful business. I feel that she won’t stop her work with me until I’ve achieved my success as we’ve mutually defined it financially in our working agreement.

What specific problems has working with Jen addressed that others in your business size might be able to relate to?

There are three major initiatives we’ve worked on to grow my business:
(1) a Telesummit with 19 guest experts who addressed various aspects of implementing ideas,
(2) a product that included DVDs and a workbook that helps people prepare for, experience, and apply the ideas they get from conferences they attend (called “INTEGRATE” for integrating new ideas into the realities of life), and
(3) an “evergreen” process combining online and offline messaging, products, and services that serves as a funnel for capturing and qualifying leads, then moving those who are qualified through a series of products and services to build their trust in me and become long-term clients.

The (1) telesummit yielded a 30% increase in my newsletter list. The (2) “INTEGRATE” product and program went from initial product development to sales to attendees at two major personal and business development conferences, continuing sales as I reach out to conference promoters to offer the product to their registrants. We are still “in process” with (3) creating the “evergreen” funnel.

Did you experience any direct “big win” business results for your company because of working with Jen? (i.e. more customers each month, creative ideas, ability to justify your monthly spend)

If I were to identify the biggest “plus” to working with Jen it would be that she understands the macro strategies I need to implement and the business environment I seek to serve. She then translates these into the micro-processes and steps needed to succeed with the big-picture strategies.

She adjusts her approach to what I need. A great example is that she initially presented her strategy to me in steps required to implement the strategy making statements like “Create a landing page using the copy I’m writing so that people can get your newsletter.” Sounds simple. Yet I still needed help with understanding how to go about doing that. So she took each step and broke it down into what I could understand and, more importantly, do (or have my staff do). So as an example, the above statement then became, “1. Create a web form using [name of application] that will collect names and email addresses. 2. Set up the response to send a thank you note and an evergreen issue of your newsletter you’ve written about idea implementation. Make sure that newsletter issue is at your [cloud file storage] site. 3. Embed the code for the web form on the landing page that you create in [name of application]. 4. Assign an easy-to-remember URL to that landing page.” And so on. She worked with me, and with my staff until we understood exactly what we each needed to do to implement the strategy she laid out to us. That is a huge and ongoing communication process between us that helps tremendously. And I’m not embarrassed to ask the questions I need to ask Jen to make sure I understand because she allows me to do so without my feeling silly about it. I continue to learn from Jen what I need to do to increase my business reach nationwide and to hone my messaging. Jen writes a lot of my copy because I still find it challenging to convey what my “tribe” needs to hear and FEEL in order to take the actions I want them to take for their own successes and business growth. My list continues to grow from the strategies Jen develops for me.

I continue to pursue sales avenues for my ‘INTEGRATE” conference ROI (return on ideas) program. And I expect my funnel to be in place, turning interest into income, by the end of the year.

Why They Would Recommend Working with Jen

What is the single biggest reason you would recommend/why you love working with Jen?

The single biggest recommendation for working with Jen is that if you are an entrepreneur, a solo or family business owner or have an organization with a sizeable staff, you want someone who understands the branding and marketing details you may not want to deal with yourself yet have to implement for your own business success. You want someone who puts your best interests in the forefront of what she does and who invests her own stake in the game so that her profitability is based on your profitability. You want someone who will work with your staff directly so that instructions aren’t lost in translation. You want someone who is patient, yet firm when needed, so that you never feel silly not understanding something she recommends.

You want Jen Kem to guide you to your branding, marketing, and sales success!

Summary

Found the courage to build a company, not a hobby, created referral network, $40K+ in revenue and climbing (from $0 in just one year).

Before

Your Experience Before Working with Jen

Summarize three points of frustration you faced before you hired Jen to help you with your branding, marketing, strategy and/or implementation.

1 Unclear about where to steer my career path
2 Didn’t think a fruitful freelance career was an option
3 Didn’t have a solid foundation to build my freelance career upon.

I didn’t know where to go. I had recently graduated design school, and I was young with a lack of focus in my career. At that time, I was a partner at a t-shirt design company that wasn’t making enough money to live on, and I knew it wasn’t what I was meant to do. As a graphic designer with an entrepreneurial spirit, I always thought of starting my own design business, but out of fear I would gravitate towards the idea of working for one agency. I just couldn’t wrap my head around saying yes to that as my career. That’s when I met Jen.

Before I even knew about the Master Brand course, she introduced to me the concept of my company being my personal brand and having a fruitful freelance design career. I needed a foundation for my brand, I needed something to base my messaging, my voice and my design upon. That’s when I enrolled in Master Brand.

Master Brand helped me find the steering wheel connected to the tires, I began to see that if I used this foundation to get seen and be heard, I would be able to make a livelihood out of my graphic design business.

What tactics did you try before you decided to work with Jen? What were the results?

I wouldn’t call what I tried tactics. I was throwing ideas and concepts at the wall to see what would stick. Too many things stuck, so much that I couldn’t make a clear path for myself. I would look at a ton of other freelancer’s websites and then just sit down and freeze. I didn’t yet understand that the story I tell with my brand is how people relate to what I do and what I can do for them.

During

Your Experience Using Jen’s Services

What was the big a-ha moment when you decided you needed to try Jen’s services?

First and foremost this assessment is backed by science, something that I highly value. The idea that I could gain real clarity for my brand from a process rooted in psychology was a big YES!

Second was the promise that the findings would help me see how I operate in business and the characteristics that really define what I value at my core.

What are the top three features you love about working with Jen?

1 Her certainty. She helped me get certain about my market and taking a position in my market.

2 Her approach. She “taught me how to fish.” When I would get discouraged, she reminded me that this journey is my own and one-of-a-kind. I’m the one who has the vision to build my brand and it’s my responsibility. In my moments of scarcity and fear, Jen helped me regain clarity in my direction and encouraged me to continue to figure out how I could present and implement my ideas. This has proved hugely valuable, not only in my business, also in my life.

3 “Swallow the big frog first.” When you have many things to do and there is one big thing you can accomplish that will make everything easier or unnecessary… Do that first!

Results

Your Results With Working with Jen

What specific problems has working with Jen addressed that others in your business size might be able to relate to?

Understanding where I operate from as a creative entrepreneur. This is extremely valuable in determining the more fruitful business ideas to pursue and the role I play best in those ventures.

Did you experience any direct “big win” business results for your company because of working with Jen? (i.e. more customers each month, creative ideas, ability to justify your monthly spend)

Getting clear and understanding my biggest value offerings to my clients has been a direct contributor to landing numerous clients. My biggest client to this day was landed because I was able to show how I can support their business with my design services.

When I was clear about the value I contribute to my clients, the results became skewed in my favor. I’ve been booked ever since.

Why They Would Recommend Working with Jen

What is the single biggest reason you would recommend/why you love working with Jen?

One of the biggest values in working with Jen is that she is honest and she tells it to you straight up.

If something doesn’t add up, she’ll say “This isn’t adding up.” If something is a bad idea and you’re being emotionally attached to the idea of a product versus being attached to creating a successful product, she’ll be direct in saying so and also question you intensely so you can see that you’re operating in a delusion. She’ll do all of this in a manner that encourages you to keep moving forward.
